Great Pacific Race

4 Men, 1 Boat, 39 Days at Sea, One Guinness World Record

In June 2016, Cyril set out with his three team mates to smash the speed record for rowing the mid pacific ocean from Monterey, California to Oahu, Hawaii.

With no support or assistance, they did just that spending 39 days, 9 hours and 56 minutes at sea. Sleeping and rowing in hour shifts they trained their minds and bodies to do what many others could not.

The crew, Team Uniting Nations from four countries consisted of Fiann Paul from Iceland, Thiago Silva from Brazil, Carlo Facchino from United States and Cyril Derreumaux from France rowed 24 hours a day for 39 days, sleeping and rowing in 90 minute increments.

The journey tested the limits of the crew as they dealt with sleep deprivation, food rationing and pushing their bodies to the edge of what they thought was possible.
